S&M talk: Andreea Ionescu

Human attachment is not only a psychological construct, but a lived relational process that shapes the way individuals perceive safety, regulate emotion, and engage with others across the lifespan. Contemporary attachment research increasingly emphasizes the importance of observing these relational dynamics within naturalistic contexts, where patterns of connection, attunement, and rupture emerge organically through everyday interaction. The presentation I propose here would focus on the qualitative grounded theory component of my research, especially the observation of mother–child interaction patterns in natural environments (at their homes). Particular attention would be given to how attachment styles become visible through recurring cognitive interpretations, emotional attunement or dysregulation, and behavioral synchrony or rupture. The philosophical discussion would address theory generation from data, ecological validity, the interpretive dimension of evidence, and methodological pluralism in the human sciences
